It’s Spring – Let’s get new members sailing this year.

We invite new youngsters to the club, for a free trial session. Drop us a line, call, Facebook us, and come give sailing a go. You don’t need anything other than a desire to have fun! We have most things you will need to go sailing.

AYAC’s season starts in May, it would be great if we have more youngsters joining us at the start. All present members can tell their friends, others in their schools and colleges, about their experience of AYAC. Present members are the best ambassadors for the club. You have first hand knowledge of what goes on, the skills gained, the friendships built, and the fun had. Sharing this with others will give more people the chance to have a similar time as you.

Get in touch and let’s get you afloat!

Oppies on The Lake

“Sailing beings with a toe in the water, and with confidence building. AYAC is fortunate to have the use of a ‘lake’, just behind the sailing club compound. The parents enjoy the sailing as much as the youngsters! Getting involved, and seeing fun had, knowledge growing, and skills increasing. The next step is a Topper on the sea, and most are keen and ready for that moment.”

AYAC Move – Back to Front

The Arun Youth Aqua Centre [AYAC] has been relocated as part of the planned work to prepare the site for the new Littlehampton Leisure Centre.

With the help of Arun District Council and Willmott Dixon Construction Limited, the AYAC will now operate from the east of the Sea Road site.

The move has been welcomed by the club as it means that the boats will have easier access to the sea via Hendon Avenue.

The project will see improvements to the facilities, including new fencing donated by Willmott Dixon, replacement changing rooms and storage, and new anchorage points to secure the boats.

Philippa Dart, Director of Services at Arun District Council, said: “I am extremely pleased to see AYAC’s facilities upgraded; the organisation is run entirely by volunteers and helps young people who are keen to learn to sail. These improvements will allow the club to continue for years to come.”

Roger Forsdyke, Managing Director at Willmott Dixon, said: “We understand the importance of the AYAC and its positive impact on the local community. We are delighted to be part of this project and to be providing the club with upgraded facilities, which includes the donation of fencing and new changing facilities.

“We pride ourselves on leaving a lasting legacy in local communities and we look forward to starting on site to create the new leisure centre.”

Roger Elliman, from the AYAC, said: “The Arun Youth Aqua Centre is delighted to be moving back to a location close to where it began 40 years ago. Over these years, the AYAC has maintained its place in Littlehampton, giving hundreds of young people and their families countless hours of fun on the water in a safe and affordable environment.

“We are very grateful to Arun District Council and Willmott Dixon for providing the relocated facility, and also to the local parish councils for their support. We are confident the Centre will continue to provide fun and sailing knowledge to young people for the next 40 years.”

The new sailing season begins on 7 May so to book a place at AYAC, or for more information, visit   https://www.ayac.org.uk/  or call 01903 714753.
