Racing

One of the ways in which a youngster can develop their skills as a sailor and participate with the wider community of sailors is by racing in a fun competitive environment, an activity we promote at the Centre. The rewards of achievement from youngster/s and his/her helm/crew and their enjoyment being involved and the camaraderie amongst the parents at all the events and assisting on and off the water makes racing a fantastic part of sailing. The Centre, as a RYA Training Club, is well positioned to enable young people to develop the basic skills of racing dinghies.

There are many opportunities for our youngsters to participate in external events, West Sussex Schools and Youth Sailing Association (WSSYSA) have an annual youth regatta, the National Schools Sailing Association (NSSA) hold perhaps the largest youth regatta in Europe and we run our own race series and join in with local yacht clubs in some of their events.

We also entered Barts Bash this year, in conjunction with our neighbours at Arun Yacht Club
